About BandHouse Gigs

Beginning in 2004, BandHouse Gigs has specialized in producing musical tributes to legendary musicians at concert halls and theaters in the Washington DC area. We have produced 38 events for different tribute artists and musical movements. Our concerts have grown exponentially over the past 20 years to the delight of sold-out audiences at The Warner Theater in D.C., The Music Center at Strathmore Hall in Bethesda, The Barns at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA, Rams Head On Stage in Annapolis, the State Theatre in Falls Church, The Fillmore Silver Spring, and The Hamilton Live, DC.

We collaborate with professionals willing to donate their services, including writers, graphic artists, videographers, photographers, make-up artists, lighting designers, marketing professionals, projectionists, audio engineers; along with 20 volunteers to handle logistics.  Together we are the BandHouse Team.

Often, we include horn or string sections to embellish the sound and stay true to the original arrangement. Fortunately, the DC Area is abundant with Grammy-award winning talent who are eager to be involved in our shows. Over 1,000 musicians have performed at these tributes. Our performers are quite diverse, combining internationally recognized seasoned veteran performers with rising local stars to bring our tribute concert audiences a cast that blends all backgrounds, ages, and ethnicities. This diversity has also allowed us to perform music from numerous genres, including:  pop, jazz, funk, rock & roll, Latin, folk, soul, country, and rhythm and blues.

This collaborative synergy has established BandHouse Gigs as one of the most successful and highly regarded concert producers in the Washington, D.C. Area.

BandHouse Gigs is a not-for-profit entity and is a contributor to After Dark, a non-profit that provides assistance to musicians in need.

About BandHouse Gigs

BandHouse includes a team of volunteers who are experts in their areas of responsibility. We have the staff to coordinate all the aspects of a great show, including: stage and backstage management, sound engineering, program notes, catering, merchandise sales, and of course show production. To improve efficiency and make it easy for the venue, BandHouse has departmentalized the various show responsibilities with the following primary leaders:

  • Executive Producer: Ronnie Newmyer, co-founder of BandHouse Gigs, has played bass guitar for over 30 years with Nils Lofgren, The Newkeys, Soul Crackers, Bill Holland and Rents Due, and Jr. Cline and the Recliners. He is closely involved in determining the show concept and serves as the main contact with the artists. He also manages catering, show promotion and is the emcee during the show.

  • Business Manager: Chuck Sullivan is a drummer, percussionist, author, and songwriter, and has played with Nils Lofgren, The Newkeys, Big Yankee Dollar, Soul Crackers, and Paper Umbrella. Chuck handles all contract, budget, financial, volunteer coordination, and legal issues. He assists in producing BandHouse CDs, videos, and DVDs. At show time, he directs the percussion section, plays drums, and is the drum tech.

  • Production Manager: Danny Schwartz, a seasoned freelance sound engineer based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, has been actively involved in the industry for over two decades. His expertise extends to sound management and tour management, touring with renowned artists such as Jerry Douglas, Kathleen Edwards, Aoife O’Donovan, and AJ Croce, among others. Currently, he holds the position of talent buyer and production manager at The Collective Encore in Columbia, Maryland. In his leisure time, he leads the NRBQ tribute band, Me & The Boys.

  • Technical Consultant: David Sless is a broadcast TV audio engineer who has mixed several local and national news and talk shows, and has decades of experience in stage management, technical production, and event coordination of live and televised events. He has served as the stage manager of such notable area venues as The Cellar Door and The Bayou, and as the Director of Technical Production at The Wax Museum Nightclub. David assists with many facets of the production of BandHouse Gigs concerts.

  • Technical Director: David McKittrick coordinates the show from beginning to end and oversees stage plots, managing logistics, and is highly involved in stage management. David plays guitar for Gunsmoke and Cheap Perfume, performing at locations in and around DC. Dave previously played guitar with Meghan Hayes and co-produced two CDs for her as well as producing two CDs for Dennis Jay.
